The 2010 Honda Pilot will be marketed with minor changes over its predecessor. While this compact SUV will continue to be equipped with just one power-train, automatic transmission and front wheel drive, while all-wheel drive and manual transmission will be on the offer optionally.
It will make efficient use of Honda’s VCMT (Variable Cylinder Management Technology) to minimize fuel consumption while making use of the cruise control system, and speeding on highways. The AWD variant will also be featured with 50-50 front/rear power split.
The 2010 Pilot will be offered in three trim levels; the EX-L, EX, and LX. The base variant will be equipped with 3.5L V6 engine that will deliver 250hp mated to a 6-speed auto (and 5-speed manual optionally) transmission.
The seating and driving comfort is also expected to be improved a good extent in the new model, while the fuel economy continues to be a concern for the Honda Pilot fans. However, one can’t simply complain about passenger and cargo room.
The Touring variant comes with added luxury features such as power tailgate, an advanced navigation system, rear and front obstacle detection, wire-less cell-phone link, and much more. It has split folding benches provided in the second and third rows, so as to accommodate a total of 8 passengers. And, in order to complement the passenger carrying capacity, the 2010 Honda Pilot also comes with great cargo room too.
As a whole, it is another excellent compact size SUV from the house of General Motors, which gives you a mixed bag of advanced features and comfort, though they come at the cost of mediocre fuel economy.
